Tuapse Oil Refinery in Russia’s Southern Krasnodar Krai Attacked by Drones Causing Fire
RUSSIA – Tuapse oil refinery in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Krai was on Friday attacked by another wave of drones, reigniting fires, according to authorities.
It marks the fourth reported strike on the facility in the past two weeks. Ukraine previously confirmed attacks on Tuapse on April 16, 20, and 28.
Local authorities said a drone attack sparked a fire at the refinery’s marine terminal in the Black Sea coastal town of Tuapse, news portal the Kyiv Independent reported.
Residents reported hearing explosions and observing air defense activity, while Russian Telegram channels claimed multiple drones were intercepted over the area.
The Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters confirmed that debris from downed drones triggered a fire at the site.
Emergency services were deployed as firefighting efforts resumed.
The Tuapse refinery is considered a strategically important facility and processes approximately 12 million tons of crude oil annually.
