Explosion in Daraa Province Kills 3 Syrian Soldiers
SYRIA – A Thursday explosion in Daraa province at a site containing remnants from the country’s 13-year civil war killed 3 Syrian soldiers and wounded several others, according to authorities.
The SANA news agency, citing an unnamed military source, said the blast occurred at a location where the wartime materials were collected from different areas of the province had been stored.
“The explosion resulted in the death of three Syrian soldiers, the injury of others, and material damage at the site,” the source said.
Despite the end of Syria’s 14-year civil war, remnants of war continue to pose a latent threat to civilians, as unexploded ordnance and old munitions remain scattered across parts of the country.
