INDONESIA – A traffic accident in Indonesia on Monday Dec. 22, involving a bus in the Central Java province killed at least 16 people and left 18 others injured.

According to the officials, the passenger bus lost control after hitting the road divider and overturned. The bus, carrying 34 passengers, was traveling from the capital Jakarta to Yogyakarta city, Kompas TV reported.

The injured passengers were immediately rushed to the nearest hospitals.

Among the injured, 5 are in critical condition.

The cause of the accident is said to be overspeeding at a steep interchange.
