Progressive Bulgaria Party Leads in Parliamentary Elections
BULGARIA – The Progressive Bulgaria party was taking lead on Monday in the Sunday’s parliamentary elections with 44.6% of the vote, according to the country’s Central Election Commission.
The party was leading with 87.2% of the votes counted as of 9.50 am local time (0650GMT), followed by Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria with 13.5% and GERB-UDF with 13.3%.
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms received around 6.1%, while Vazrazhdane stood at 4.4%.
Under Bulgaria’s Election Code, the Central Election Commission is required to announce the final vote totals and seat distribution for parties and coalitions no later than four days after election day. The names of the elected members of Parliament must be published within seven days.
Sunday’s vote marked Bulgaria‘s eighth parliamentary election since 2021.
