At least 2 people were killed early Tuesday in an attack on the Cross River State by unknown assailants.

Omini Iyam Ebri, 56, and Ubi Ofem Ubi, 58 died from gunshot wounds.

A third individual was rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

According to authorities, an operation to apprehend the attackers was ongoing, urging the affected communities to remain calm.

Two warring communities, Ugep and Idomi had been previously attacking each other, with the current peace being tested, as tensions continue to rise.

Lagos-Apapa Expressway Collision Kills 1

A commercial minibus driver was killed on Tuesday along Lagos-Apapa Expressway collision, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management (LSTM).

The collision involved the minibus and a Toyota Tundra, with the driver dying instantly from the impact.

“Preliminary investigations conducted by security personnel at the scene revealed that the driver of the commercial minibus sustained grievous injuries and died instantly due to the devastating impact of the collision," the LSTM spokesperson Adebayo Toufiq said in a statement.
