Gaza Death Toll Today at 61,944 as Israel Continues Attacks

PALESTINE – The Palestinian Health Ministry said that Gaza death toll today (Sunday) is at least 61,944 since Oct. 2023.

A ministry statement said that 47 bodies were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 226 people were injured, taking the number of injuries to 155,886 in the Israeli onslaught.

“Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

Palestinians Killed While Seeking Aid

The ministry also noted that 14 Palestinians were killed and over 132 injured by Israeli army fire while trying to get humanitarian aid in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid to 1,938, with over 14,420 others wounded since May 27.

Gaza Starvation Death Toll

The ministry said that seven more Palestinians, including two children, died of malnutrition and starvation in the Israel-blockaded Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours. This brought the famine-linked eath toll since October 2023 to 258 people, including 110 children.

Since March 2, Israeli authorities have completely closed all Gaza border crossings, creating famine-like conditions for the territory’s 2.4 million population.

Israel Continues Attacks

Earlier Sunday, at least 7 Palestinians were killed by an Israeli drone attack in Gaza City, in a strike that targeted civilians gathered in the courtyard of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital.

Another medical source from the Gaza Health Ministry reported that a young Palestinian was killed by Israeli gunfire near the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza.

In southern Gaza, six people were killed and several others injured by Israeli shelling near the Morag area.

Four others lost their lives in an Israeli strike targeting a tent sheltering displaced families near the Tayba Towers west of Khan Younis.

In central Gaza, a medical source at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital said a drone strike targeted a group of civilians in Al-Bassa, west of Deir al-Balah, killing one person and injuring others.

A Palestinian man was also killed when his home in the Nuseirat refugee camp was struck by Israeli bombardment.

Meanwhile, witnesses reported that the Israeli army demolished three more houses in the Zeitoun neighborhood in southeastern Gaza City and two more in northwestern Khan Younis.

On Aug. 11, Israeli forces launched a large-scale assault on the Zeitoun neighborhood, including house demolitions using booby-trapped robots, artillery fire, indiscriminate shooting, and forced displacement, according to witnesses.
