PALESTINE – On Thursday, at least 42 Palestinians were killed and many others injured after Israeli forces continued their bombardments across Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces struck a civilian gathering in western Gaza City, killing one Palestinian and injuring others.
Three more Palestinians lost their lives, and several were injured in airstrikes targeting northwestern Gaza City.
Four people from the same family were also killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
In the southern Gaza Strip, a Palestinian woman lost her life to Israeli gunfire in Hamad Town in Khan Younis. Israeli artillery also shelled several areas near the town, witnesses said.
The fatalities occurred as the Israeli army continued detonating homes and residential buildings via booby-trapped devices amid heavy bombardment on northwestern Gaza City, according to an Anadolu correspondent.
The attacks came as the city was experiencing a communication and internet blackout imposed by Israel for the second consecutive day, causing fear and a sense of isolation among Palestinians.
Gaza City on a Communications Blackout
For a second straight day on Thursday, residents of Gaza City were left without internet or landline service as Israeli attacks knocked out major infrastructure routes, deepening the enclave’s isolation under an ongoing military campaign.
The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority confirmed that fixed-line and internet networks collapsed in Gaza City and parts of the north on Wednesday after key cables and facilities were damaged.
Such blackouts, which paralyze hospitals, civil defense teams and humanitarian aid operations, have become a defining feature of Israel’s war on Gaza. Rights groups warn they are not accidental but part of a deliberate policy to silence the enclave and obstruct outside scrutiny.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has tracked more than a dozen complete communication shutdowns since October 2023, describing them as systematic efforts to “turn off the lights” on Gaza and cover up violations on the ground.
Gaza Strip Famine Kills 4
The Gaza Health Ministry said on Thursday that 4 more people, including a child, died from starvation and malnutrition in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total number of deaths due to famine and malnutrition to 435, including 147 children.
Since March 2, Israeli authorities have completely closed all Gaza border crossings, pushing the territory’s 2.4 million population into famine.
Famine has been confirmed in northern Gaza, and is projected to expand to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis in central and southern Gaza by the end of September, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).
Since IPC declared famine in Gaza, 157 people have starved to death, including 32 children, the ministry said.
Latest Gaza War Death Toll
At least 65,141 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, as four more people, including one child, died of starvation in the enclave, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.
A ministry statement said that 79 bodies were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 228 people were injured, taking the number of injuries to 165,925 in the Israeli onslaught.
“Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.
