RUSSIA – A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Izhevsk city in Udmurtia region on Tuesday killed 3 civilians, and left 35 injured – 10 in critical condition – according to local reports.
Aleksandr Brechalov, head of Russia’s Udmurtia region, said on Telegram that Ukraine targeted a military industrial facility, launching drones from Ukrainian territory.
“To our great regret, there have been fatalities and severely wounded individuals. All necessary assistance is currently being provided to them at the hospital in Izhevsk,” he said.
Brechalov added that emergency services had been dispatched to the scene.
“There are injured people, and firefighters are currently extinguishing the sources of fire,” he said.
Udmurtia previously restricted flights into and out of Izhevsk airport.
All mass events scheduled for July 1 and 2 were canceled to honor the victims, Brechalov said.
Izhevsk is home to several factories operated by the Kalashnikov Holding Company, which manufactures both civilian and military products.
