RUSSIA – An overnight Ukrainian drone attack in Moscow Region resulted to 2 deaths after a house caught fire according to local Governor Andrei Vorobyov on Monday.
“Unfortunately, a tragedy occurred in Voskresensk: two people died in a fire in a private home,” Vorobyov said on Telegram, extending condolences to the victims’ families.
He said Russian air defense units intercepted four drones over Voskresensk and Kolomna, adding that several buildings in Voskresensk sustained damage to windows and facades while street lighting was disrupted.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and Vorobyov stressed that temporary housing and assistance would be provided to affected residents.
Drone attacks on Russian regions near the capital and border areas have increased in recent months.
147 Ukrainian UAVs Downed
The Russian Ministry of Defense on Monday said that 147 Ukrainian UAVs were shot down in last 24 hours.
“Air defense systems shot down four US-made HIMARS multiple launch rockets, two guided aerial bombs, three Neptune long-range guided missiles, and 147 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles,” a ministry statement said.
