ITALY – A tunnel road crash in Italy today (Tuesday) claimed the lives of at least 3 people and left 2 others injured when a car and truck collided at around 2.30 p.m. local time.
The accident occurred in a tunnel about 70 kilometers (44 miles) north of Florence along the Variante di Valico route.
Emergency responders, including firefighters and traffic police, quickly arrived to assist the victims and manage the situation.
Among the injured was a young girl who is receiving medical care.
The highway was temporarily closed between Firenzuola and Badia, causing a 7-km (4 miles) backup from Aglio, according to highway operator ASPI.
