Russian Forces Strike Tripolskaya Thermal Power Plant

UKRAINE – The Russian forces carried out airstrikes on Kyiv’s Tripolskaya thermal power plant, resulting to power outages.

Local residents reported hearing around 7 explosions, with the local Ukrainian ministry of energy later confirming the attack.

“The goal is clear – to inflict even greater hardship on Ukraine’s civilian population, to leave homes, hospitals, kindergartens, and schools without light or heat. Power generation facilities, transmission and distribution systems, and gas infrastructure are not military targets. The enemy fully understands it is striking critical civilian infrastructure,” the ministry said.

Russia has always reiterated that it doesn’t target civilian infrastructure, but only those infrastructures which are being used by the military industrial complex of Ukraine – including energy facilities, defense industry, military command and communications of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian energy ministry assured residents of working as fast as possible to restore power and that it’ll advise on any new updates in due time.

“The enemy clearly understands that he is hitting critical CIVIL infrastructure.
Rescuers and energy workers are currently working to eliminate the consequences of the shelling. We are doing everything possible to stabilize the situation as soon as possible,” it added.
