RUSSIA – Moscow fire breaking news updates as the death toll from the fire caused by a blast on a residential building has risen to 3. The cause of the blast hasn’t yet been officially confirmed.
“Three people died due to the explosion in an apartment building in Moscow. All the dead were in the next apartment to the place where the blast occurred,” Russia’s Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief reported.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening in a building on General Tyulenev Street 39, where two apartments caught fire and the floors between the eighth and ninth floors collapsed. Residents were evacuated to temporary accommodation centers.
At least 15 residents, including children, sustained injuries, while several others were trapped inside.
The tenant for the apartment where the blast came from wasn’t in the house at the time of the blast according to local law enforcement.
A criminal case has been opened to determine the cause of the blast.
