Malian Armed Forces Kill a Dozen Terrorists in Douentza Region

MALI – A military operation by the Malian Armed Forces on Sunday killed around a dozen terrorists in the Douentza region, according to a military statement.

The operation was carried out between Bambara-Maoude and Inadjatafane in the Douentza region.

The statement however didn’t specify the terror group targeted.

“No effort will be spared by the FAMa to ensure the protection and free movement of people and their property,” the army said, referring to the Malian Armed Forces by its French acronym.

Mali has faced persistent insecurity for more than a decade, particularly in its central and northern regions, where armed groups linked to militant organizations and local conflicts have carried out attacks against security forces and civilians.

The army regularly announces counterterrorism operations as it seeks to reassert control over territory and curb the activities of armed groups, especially in areas near key population centers and along the Niger River corridor.
