RUSSIA – The 121st Motorized Rifle Regiment commander said that his team have made an advance in western Kupyansk, in a video released by the Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday.
“We completed the task of clearing 1st Zapadnaya Street, Zodchikh Street, and Verbitsky Street of Ukrainian Armed Forces militants,” the commander said.
He said that fighting was going on in the western parts of the city, with at least 15 Ukrainian soldiers killed.
He added that on the southern parts of the city, the Russian forces are also advancing, closing in to the city limits.
What Ukraine is Saying
The head of the Dnipropetrovsk region Vladyslav Haivanenko reported on Wednesday that a 47 years old man was killed in a UAV attack, and property damage was also recorded.
“The aggressor also sent UAVs toward Pavlohrad. Fires broke out. Private businesses and vehicles were damaged,” Haivanenko said.
Attacks were also reported in Nikopol and the Pokrovske, with 8 drones getting downed.
On Tuesday, Zaporizhzhia Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov reported that Russian forces carried out 645 strikes on 16 settlements.
No casualties were recorded, but only property damage.
Resumption of Prisoner Exchange
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, who heads the Ukrainian delegation for direct talks with Russia, arrived in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday.
In a statement on Telegram, Umerov named the resumption of war prisoner exchanges with Russia as the purpose of his visit.
“These days, I will be working in Turkey and the Middle East to unblock the exchange process. There was an agreement, and we need to implement it,” he said.
According to Umerov, meetings are scheduled in Turkey to discuss the resumption of exchanges. He did not specify who exactly would participate in the meetings.
At the last or third round of direct talks in Istanbul, which took place on July 23, Russia and Ukraine agreed on the exchange of prisoners of war and civilians.
In addition, Moscow has proposed to Kyiv to form three groups that will work online on political, humanitarian and military issues. Later, the Kremlin said that Moscow had not received a response from Kyiv to this proposal.
Apart from Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and partly Saudi Arabia and Qatar mediated humanitarian exchanges between Russia and Ukraine.
