RUSSIA – These are the latest news in the Russia-Ukraine war as we dive into the updates being delivered from both Russia and Ukraine, as the battle for Kupyansk rages on as well as in other regions.
The Russian commander for the 121st Motorized Rifle Regiment of the “West” group reported on Thursday that Ukrainian forces were retreating along the Oskol River in Kupyansk.
“We’re working without fuss, in accordance with the mission, taking care of our guys. The enemy is retreating along the river. We will accomplish our assigned task,” he said in a video shared by the Russian Defense Ministry.
He added that his team was clearing the western parts of Kupyansk along the Oskol River.
The commander also said that 20 Ukrainian forces were killed in fighting in the Kharkiv region.
“During the fighting, up to twenty militants were killed,” he said.
“We are currently clearing Prioskolnaya Street itself and engaging militant positions in the forested area that stretches along the banks of the Oskol River south of the street,” he added.
Russian Forces Advance in Krasnoarmeysk
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that its forces are progressing in Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
“In the village of Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk People’s Republic, assault groups of the 2nd Army are conducting active offensive operations in the western part of the city, the northwestern and eastern districts of the Central District, as well as in the western industrial zone,” the Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry added that 30 Ukrainian military personnel were killed and 6 armored vehicles destroyed.
Ten attacks attempting to relieve encircled Ukrainian forces were also repelled.
Krasnoarmeysk and Dimitrov form a single urban agglomeration. It is a crucial transportation hub for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donbas: a significant portion of the supply and reinforcement routes to Chasov Yar passed through Kostyantynivka.
It also played a key role in supplying ammunition to Selidovo.
Krasnoarmeysk was the cornerstone of the Ukrainian defense along the entire front line in the DPR.
Ukraine Intercepts 102 Drones
Ukraine Air Force said that it had intercepted or jammed 102 Russian drones, out of 138 since Tuesday evening.
According to Ukrainian preliminary data, as of 10:30 on Thursday, November 13, air defense units shot down or suppressed 102 drones over the northern, eastern, and southern regions of Ukraine.
Ten locations were hit by 36 drones.
2 Killed in a Russian Attack
The Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head, Oleh Syniehubov reported on Thursday that 2 people had been killed by Russian drone attacks in Kharkiv region.
“The enemy attacked civilians in the Borova community. As a result of a Russian strike near the village of Bohuslavka, two people were killed and two others were injured,” Oleh said.
A transport enterprise was damaged during the attack.
Russia Captures New Settlements in Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv Regions
Russia on Thursday said that its forces captured two more settlements in eastern Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.
The Defense Ministry said its units “continued their advance deep into the enemy’s defense” and took control of the village of Danylivka in the Dnipropetrovsk.
It said troops also took control the settlement of Synelnykove in Kharkiv.
Russia Intercepts Ukrainian Drones
Russia said on Thursday that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 130 Ukrainian drones overnight across several regions.
The Defense Ministry in a statement said the attacks occurred between late Wednesday and early Thursday, targeting areas along the border as well as regions deeper inside Russian territory.
As many as 32 drones were downed over the Kursk and Belgorod regions, while 20 others were intercepted over Voronezh, according to the ministry.
It added that 17 UAVs were also destroyed over the Black Sea, seven over Crimea, six over Oryol, five over Krasnodar, four over Tambov, three over Rostov, two over Bryansk, and one each over Tula and the Moscow region.
