KENYA – The Juja MP George Koimburi was on Monday May 26, found dumped in a coffee plantation in Kibichoi, Kiambu County after he was reportedly captured by unknown individuals outside a church in Mugutha on Sunday.
He was alive and was taken to Plainsview Hospital near Ruiru town for treatment after he appeared to have been tortured and was unable to speak.
He was unconscious when he was found.
Why was Koimburi Ubducted?
The true reason for his abduction still remains a speculation with claims that his abductors appeared to be police personnel.
George Koimburi is a close ally of Rigathi Gachagua, the former vice president of Kenya and the top critic of the William Ruto’s administration.
The abduction comes just a few weeks after a Catholic priest in Nyandarua county was killed in unclear circumstances just after hosting Gachagua.
The Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), – which have been linked to numerous abductions in Kenya since the Gen-Z protests in June which saw tens of young Kenyans involved in the protests being abducted and appearing dead under suspicious circumstances – have distanced itself with Koimburi’s abduction.
It instead stated that George Koimburi was being sought for an alleged land fraud and misuse of Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
