Israeli Attacks on Tents Housing Displaced Palestinians Kill Over 15

PALESTINEIsraeli attacks on tents housing displaced Palestinians across Gaza Strip have killed at least 15, and left dozens others injured since Thursday morning Jan. 8, despite a ceasefire being in effect.

Palestinian health officials said Israel targeted tents housing displaced people, homes and a school across Gaza.

In Gaza City’s Zeytun neighbourhood, four people were killed and many were wounded when a warehouse and a house were struck.

In the Mevasi area of ​​Khan Younis, a drone attack on a tent killed four Palestinians, including a woman and two siblings who were children.

In the Jabalia Refugee Camp, one person was killed and eight, including children, were injured when a school sheltering displaced people was hit.

It was also reported that in Beit Lahia, Deir al-Balah and the Bureij Refugee Camp, there were casualties in attacks that targeted tents and homes.

Israeli warplanes also carried out heavy airstrikes in the northwest of Gaza City and eastern areas of Khan Younis. In some areas, evacuation warnings were issued, causing panic and waves of displacement.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health said despite the ceasefire that came into effect on Oct. 10, Israeli violations have continued, with 425 Palestinians killed and 1,206 injured in the violations.

Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said targeting civilians and shelters is a clear violation of international law and urged the international community to provide urgent protection for civilians.
