RUSSIA – One person died and 2 others sustained injuries after a fire broke out in a five-storey building in Samara city, southwestern Russia on Wednesday.

According to the regional Emergency Ministry, 20 people were evacuated from the building safely.

“At the scene of the call, a third-floor apartment and a fourth-floor balcony of a five-storey building were on fire. At 6:01 a.m. local time, units from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations extinguished the fire, covering an area of ​​40 square meters. A 73-year-old man died in the fire, and two other men were injured. Twenty people were evacuated for safety reasons,” the ministry said.

The scene of the fire was at 3 Lipyagovskaya Street in Kuibyshevsky district of Samara city.

The fire department said that they were notified of the fire at 4:40 a.m. local time.

The cause of fire was being investigated.
