COLOMBIA – The current death toll from Colombia landslides is 16 as of Thursday, with search and rescue efforts continuing to locate the missing persons.
Andres Julian Rendon, governor of the Antioquia department, announced on X that eight individuals remain missing.
The landslide struck on Tuesday in the mountainous area of Bello, just outside Medellin, Colombia’s second-largest city, after intense rainfall caused a nearby stream to overflow.
Located in the western Andes, Antioquia frequently experiences landslides during the rainy season.
