Civil Servants in Netherlands go on Strike
NETHERLANDS – Civil servants in Netherlands went on strike Tuesday, protesting wage freeze, according to local reports.
Civil service employees have not received a pay raise this year as the wage freeze adopted by the previous Cabinet is not being reversed by the new one.
Trade unions are organizing meetings during the day across several cities, including Amsterdam, Apeldoorn, Groningen, Maastricht, Utrecht, and Rotterdam.
Employees from various organizations are expected to strike for 24 hours, with some for 72 hours.
As a result, buildings belonging to ministries and the House of Representatives will not be cleaned or partially cleaned for three days.
