AUSTRALIA – The Australia‘s New South Wales floods 2025 have broken record by reaching a flood level of 6.4 meters, surpassing previous 1929 record. This is as a result of the overflow of the Manning River in Taree in Mid North Coast region.
Hundreds of people were rescued in Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) state after heavy rain and flooding hit the region, local media reported Wednesday.
More than 280 people were shifted to safe locations as the Manning River at Taree in the Mid North Coast region reached a record-breaking flood level of 6.4 meters, surpassing the previous 1929 record, according to ABC News.
Local authorities issued 13 emergency-level alerts in the New South Wales Hunter and Mid North Coast regions as state emergency services personnel were busy rescuing people from floodwaters and rooftops, while evacuation centers have been opened in the region.
A new warning has also been issued for residents of Redbank to evacuate as floodwater is rising in the area.
Residents of Oxley Island, Mitchells Island, Manning Point and Port Macquarie Northshore are being told to shelter now, according to the broadcaster.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for Mid North Coast and parts of the Northern Rivers, Northern Tablelands and Hunter Forecast Districts.
