August 27 Declared Katiba Day in Kenya

KENYA – Kenya’s William Ruto declared August 27 as Katiba Day, in commemoration of the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution.

This day will now be commemorated every year from now on.

The Executive Office of the President released a decreee on Monday, saying that the day will serve as a reminder of the country’s collective duty to obey, preserve, protect, and implement the Constitution.

“The promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 marked a defining moment in our nation’s history, heralding a new era of constitutionalism, citizen-centred governance, devolution and equitable development, protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, and a shared aspiration for a more just, equitable, and prosperous nation for all,” the decree read.

Although a national day, it’ll be a working day like any other.
