Articles of Impeachment Against Trump Filed

USAArticles of impeachment against Trump were filed on Tuesday over concerns on his conduct and handling of Iran war by Connecticut’s representative John Larson.

Larson said the move comes as Trump “becomes more unhinged” and risks the safety and security of the American people while also urging members of the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to remove him from office.

“Donald Trump has blown past every requirement to be removed from office. And it’s getting worse,” Larson said in a statement, criticizing what he described as an “illegal war in Iran” and warning of its impact on American lives and the economy.

Larson said Trump is “unable or unwilling to faithfully execute the responsibilities of the office and he is putting the nation’s security and economy in jeopardy.”

Even after Trump announced a two-week suspension of military action against Iran, several Democratic parliamentarians on Tuesday renewed calls for his removal from office, citing threats of war crimes, reckless decision-making and unfitness to serve.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer acknowledged relief over the ceasefire but criticized Trump’s previous “ridiculous bluster,” calling for continued oversight.

Ed Markey stressed that the ceasefire does not absolve the president, calling the war “illegal” and urging Congress to reconvene immediately to halt hostilities and pursue removal measures.

Donald Trump can’t simply threaten war crimes with impunity. Congress needs to get back in session now to stop this war and remove Donald Trump,” Markey said on US social media company X.

They also called for the invocation of the 25th Amendment.

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment authorizes the vice president, together with a majority of the Cabinet (or another congressionally designated body), to determine that the president “is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”

If such a declaration is made, the vice president shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as acting president.
