CHINA – An Air India flight from Hong Kong bound for Delhi suffered a technical issue just after take-off from the Hong Kong International Airport on Monday, prompting the plane to return back to the airport.
“AI315 operating from Hong Kong to Delhi on June 16 air-returned to Hong Kong shortly after take-off due to a technical issue. The flight landed safely at Hong Kong and is undergoing checks as a matter of abundant precaution,” an Air India spokesperson said in a statement.
It said alternative arrangements have been planned to fly the passengers to their destination, Delhi, at the earliest.
“We are providing all necessary on-ground assistance to the passengers to minimize the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen disruption,” the spokesperson said.
The Air India plane’s technical issue has come days after India witnessed a major aviation disaster after an Air India plane with 242 onboard crashed in western Gujarat state last week.
The crash killed over 270 people, including 241 aboard the ill-fated plane.
Subsequently, India ordered an inspection of Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.
