China Launches Shiyan-21 Communications Satellite

CHINA – China has launched Shiyan-21 communications technology satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest Sichuan Province.

The Shiyan-21 satellite lifted off at 6.55 pm Friday (1055GMT) aboard a Long March-3B carrier rocket and successfully entered its designated orbit, according to local reports.

The satellite is intended for use in satellite communications, radio and television broadcasting, data transmission and other related services, as well as for carrying out associated technical tests and validations.

This mission marked the 609th launch in the Long March rocket series.
