KENYA – At least 13 people were killed in an Elementaita road accident on Sunday along Nairobi-Nakuru highway after a trailer collided head-on with a 14-seater Public Service Vehicle (PSV).

According to Nakuru police, the PSV (Matatu) was trying to overtake when the collision occurred. The deceased were in the matatu.

“The matatu was overtaking and then it rammed into the trailer causing 13 fatalities and three others seriously injured,” Police Commander Emmanuel Opuru said.

“Fatalities have been rushed to Gilgil Sub-county mortuary and the seriously injured have been rushed to Gilgil hospital,” he added.

3 were among the injured, including 2 children.

Reports indicate that the PSV had been hired from Nairobi to take the victims to a family function.
