ITALY – A construction site accident in Naples, Italy, left 3 workers dead on Friday after they fell from an elevator – local media reported.

The workers, who were engaged in the renovation of a building in the Vomero neighborhood, died after falling from a freight elevator, the ANSA news agency reported.

The incident came amid rising workplace-related deaths in Italy, as Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government has said boosting health and safety is one of their priorities.

According to the report, citing workplace accident insurance agency INAIL, workplace deaths in Italy last year rose slightly to 1,202.
