USA – A California fertility clinic bomb blast in Palm Springs on Saturday left one person dead and at least 5 injured according to local authorities. The bomb exploded outside the facility with the local Mayor stating that either the bomb was inside the car or near it.
According to the FBI, it was “an intentional act of terrorism.”
The person who was killed was near the vehicle involved in the explosion according to FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office. However, authorities were still working to confirm the identity of the person who died and declined to say whether the person who died was the suspect in the blast.
The blast occurred at about 11 a.m. local time, rocking nearby buildings and leading to a fire and the collapse of a building, according to authorities. The debris field covered over 250 yards.
After the incident, Pam Bondi, the US Attorney General said that “Federal agents are on the ground now responding alongside local law enforcement. We are working to learn more,” adding that, “Violence against a fertility clinic is unforgivable.”
The FBI believe the clinic was targeted.
