ROMANIA – As Romanians head to the polls for the second round of presidential elections, the Romanian presidential candidate George Simion was escorted out of a polling station in Mogosoaia after casting his vote.

He is the leader of the nationalist party Alliance for the Unification of Romanians (AUR) and front-runner for the previously held May election where no candidate was able to secure a majority of votes.
After leaving the premises, Georgescu told reporters that he voted “for a Christian Romania” and “for family values.”
The police demanded that politicians won’t be allowed to make public address and should leave the polling stations immediately.
Romania Election Candidates 2025
The election is between far-right candidate George Simion, who won an unexpected, yet decisive victory, with 40.96% of the vote in the first round, and centrist, pro-Western mayor of the capital city, Nicusor Dan, who came second with 20.96%.
As Dan expanded his electoral base by reaching educated, urbanized segments of the society, with the help of major media outlets and European centrist leaders, opinion surveys predict a very tight race against Simion.
