US-Israeli Attack on Southern Iran Kills 5, as Israeli Soldier is Killed in Southern Lebanon

IRAN – A US-Israeli attack on Southern Iran killed 5 people and injured 4 others when a pier was targeted, according to local reports on Sunday.

According to the Iran’s official news agency IRNA, the strike hit the Bandar Pol pier in Bandar Khamir County, located in Hormozgan province along the Persian Gulf, in the early hours of Sunday.

It added that two vessels and a vehicle sustained damage in the attack.

Regional escalations have continued to rage since Israel and the US launched an offensive against Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people to date, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure, while disrupting global markets and aviation.

Israeli Soldier Killed in Southern Lebanon

One Israeli soldier was killed and three others injured in a combat in southern Lebanon, according to the Israeli army on Sunday.

A military statement announced the death of Sergeant Moshe Yitzhak Hacohen Katz of the Paratroopers Brigade.

Three other soldiers also sustained moderate injuries in the combat and were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment, according to the statement.

No further details were provided on the circumstances of the incident.

Israel has pounded Lebanon with airstrikes and launched a ground offensive in the south since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2.

On Friday evening, the Lebanese Health Ministry announced that the death toll from the Israeli attacks rose to 1,142, with 3,315 others wounded.
