Volcano Islands in Japan Hit by a Magnitude 6 Earthquake
JAPAN – Volcano Islands in Japan were on Monday struck by a magnitude 6 earthquake, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences.
The earthquake occurred at 0355 GMT in the North Pacific Ocean at a shallow depth of 20 kilometers (12 miles), some 283 km (176 mi) from the Northern Mariana Islands.
The epicenter was initially determined to be at 23.12 degrees north latitude and 144.30 degrees east longitude.
No losses were reported.
