USA – A Thomas S. Wootton High School shooting in Rockville, Maryland on Monday left a 16-years-old male student injured, by a gunshot to the stomach.

“The victim has been transported to an area hospital and is currently in stable condition,” Montgomery County police.

Police responded to the school around 2:15 p.m. local time, after reports of shots fired.

Immediately the school was locked down as a precautionary measure, to allow law enforcements to secure the scene.

The victim was reported to suffer from a single gunshot wound, was immediately rushed to hospital and was later said to be in stable condition.

Authorities later said that they’d a 16-years-old male student as the shooter and had placed him into custody, where he’s said to await charges as an adult.

The gun used in the shooting was later discovered, and the public concerns of more threat was lifted, with the school was set to re-open on Tuesday Feb. 10.
