TURKEY – At least 3 police officers were killed in a counterterrorism operation targeting ISIS (Daesh) in Yalova province in Turkey on Monday, according to local sources.
Police launched an operation against Daesh at a house located on the road to Elmalik village, near the city center, according to the sources.
Special operations units from the nearby province of Bursa were dispatched to support the ongoing operation, which is continuing under tight security measures in the area.
Authorities said the injured officers were taken to hospital and are in good condition.
6 Terrorists Killed
At least six ISIS (Daesh) terrorists were killed during the operation according to the Turkish interior minister.
Ali Yerlikaya said that three police officers were also killed after the terrorists opened fire on them.
He added that eight police officers and one security guard were wounded in the clash.
The operation targeted ISIS terrorists in Yalova and was carried out by Turkish security forces as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts, the minister said.
