22 Killed in Jakarta’s Terra Drone Office Building Fire

INDONESIA – At least 22 people were killed – 7 male and 15 female – while several others sustained injuries on Tuesday, after a fire broke out at Terra Drone office building in Indonesia’s capital.

All of the deceased were taken to the National Police Hospital for identification, according to the Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro.

“And the 22 victims have now been taken to the National Police Hospital and during the evacuation process, several officers were also injured by broken glass and so on,” he said.

“The Central Jakarta Police and the Metro Jaya Police will also set up a post at this location, of course, for the families of other victims who are Terra Drone employees who may not have returned or have not yet provided news to their families,” he added.

The police chief said that the incident happened when a battery caught fire on the first floor and grew bigger, with the smoke rising to the 6th floor of the building.
